Work At Home

In 2005, a friend wanted my business advice on what could be a good
business for stay- at-home mothers. She wanted to invest $20,000
to partner with me. I felt flattered but at the same time, I did
not feel I was ready to go back to the work force.
I used to be a workaholic mom. My parents were proud of my
accomplishments but it was at the expense of my then two boys. I
worked for 16 hours a day and travelled around the world. I gave
them quality time in my spare time. They did not complain
much. Recently, I found an essay of my first born son in an old
computer. My son resented me for "not being there". Shocked
I pondered deeper that the sacrifices I offered my children so that
they can have a comfortable life did not translate to an "appreciation"
of my efforts.
They wanted my presence, not a big house or more high tech toys.
I was pathetic. I was blinded by a need to provide for my
children because I thought because I went into graduate school, I
should expect more from myself.
I really did not trust that God will provide. I believed it
but I thought it only worked for some Christians but not for a woman
like me who is business-driven. I also believed the lie that Satan
hammers inside our heads that "God gave you brains, use
it."
Those were my mistakes in my past. I am sure you are better
mothers than me in that aspect. You were gifted with a
realization, early in your motherhood, that your primary vocation is
your family.
For mothers like me who are late bloomers, I wish to encourage
you to stay at home. Your children will grow up so fast. Do
not waste a single second away from them. I urge you to put an
armor of faith that God will lead you to new doors that will enable you
to augment your household income.
If finances are stressful, persevere for God will provide.
Meanwhile, there are many opportunities for you to work at home and you
can be a great mother, wife and entrepreneur.
